Marqeta Appoints Lukasz Strozek As Chief Technology Officer

Marqeta, the Oakland-based card issuing platform, has appointed Lukasz Strozek as its next Chief Technology Officer. The appointment takes effect on May 18, 2026. In his new role, Strozek will oversee the company's worldwide technology and engineering operations, taking charge of product development, infrastructure, and technical strategy.

Strozek brings deep experience in scaling technology organizations. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer at a major fintech firm, where he led engineering teams across multiple continents. His background includes building high-volume payment systems and modernizing legacy architectures. Marqeta's CEO noted that Strozek's track record in driving innovation and operational efficiency made him the right fit for the role.

The move comes as Marqeta continues to expand its platform for issuing virtual and physical payment cards. The company processes billions of transactions annually for clients like Square, DoorDash, and Affirm. With Strozek at the helm of technology, Marqeta aims to accelerate product development and strengthen its infrastructure to handle growing demand.

Strozek replaces the interim CTO who had been filling the position since the previous technology chief departed earlier this year. The outgoing executive is leaving to pursue other opportunities, according to company statements. Marqeta's board expressed confidence that Strozek's leadership will help the company maintain its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving payments landscape.
