A key prototype for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment, or DUNE, has been pushed to its limits in a grueling stress test. The trial is designed to see how the cutting-edge technology holds up under the intense pressure and harsh environment it will face when the full-scale experiment begins operations.

DUNE aims to be the world's largest neutrino experiment, studying these elusive particles to unlock secrets about the universe, including why matter exists. The new prototype, which uses a liquid argon time projection chamber, was subjected to conditions that mimic the extreme demands of deep underground operation.
