Brittany Christenson, CEO of the public benefit corporation AidKit, is working to change how governments and nonprofits get money to people who need it. Her company focuses on guaranteed income programs and equitable aid distribution, using technology designed with empathy rather than just efficiency.
Christenson came to this work from the nonprofit world, not the tech sector. That background shapes her approach. She believes that systems for delivering aid often treat recipients as problems to be solved, rather than people with dignity. Her goal is to build tools that are accountable and fair.
Under her leadership, AidKit has grown quickly. The company now partners with more than 200 agencies and has processed over half a million applications. The scale is significant, but Christenson emphasizes that the real measure of success is whether people actually receive the support they are owed, without unnecessary barriers or bureaucratic friction.
She argues that technology can either reinforce existing inequalities or help dismantle them. By centering the human experience in the design process, AidKit aims to make sure that aid reaches those who qualify, quickly and respectfully. For Christenson, this is not just a technical challenge but a moral one.
